NASCAR Las Vegas: Hamilton defeated Elliott for victory.
Danny Hamelin advanced to the semifinals of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Playoffs after defeating defending champion Chase Elliott in Las Vegas.
Sunday's win means Humlin progresses regardless of how he finishes in the next two races at Talladega and Charlotte Rowle.
With the careful release in the final stage, Joe Gibbs, a racing Toyota driver, successfully navigated the green flag pit stops and circled back 229 out of 267 laps.
Hamilton's teammates Kyle Busch and Martin Trox Jr. finished third and fourth, while Pence's driver, Ryan Blaine, scored the top five at Ford.
The top 10 finishers were Tyler Reddick, Brad Keselowski, Kurt Bush, Kevin Harwick, and Stage One winner Kelly Larson, who won the spring race in Las Vegas.
After the break between Stage 2 and 3, the lead-lap cars were parked with the Stage Two winner Hamlin, the first to exit Pitt Road. On Leap 167, Hamilton was followed by Croix, Reddick, and Kyle Busch.
Troix hurried inside the restart and took the lead, just to restart the lead in the next lap for Hamilton.
With 80 laps, Hamelin outscored Reddick by about half a second as Trox finished third and Elliott fourth.
The last round of the Green Flag Pit Stop began at Lap 210, as many drivers picked up fresh tires and fuel by the end of the race. Hendrick Motorsport drivers Elliott and William Byron stood on 213 laps with Billy, while Hamilton waited for the following lap.
Hendrick's Alex Bowman was forced a second time to dig a hole for the broken valve stem on his left rear tire under the green. He came down two laps on the track and back in the 28th.
Byron had to dig a green hole on his lap 225 for flat tires. Once he got back on track, he was running 22nd and two laps down.
Once the stop was completed in 229 laps, Hamilton returned, followed by Elliott, Trox, Kyle Busch, and Reddick.
With 30 laps left, Hamilton was out of the front but Elliott reduced his lead to less than a second and was gaining ground quickly.
Elliott stretched out Hamelin's lead to practically a large portion of a second in the last lap yet never approached enough to challenge for the best position and deny Hamelin his 46th profession triumph.
Larson is 14th in the playoffs against Hamilton. The last four Byron, Hancock, Bowman, and Christopher Bell are currently in danger of extinction after the Charlotte Rowle race.
